Complex aromas of grilled herbs, thyme, sage and mint as well as dark berry and cassis. Wonderfully broad, mouth filling and powerful with layers of black berry, cocoa, anise, spice cake and fig paste. Finishes with lingering flavors of dark fruit and herb over a plush fine-grained framework of tannin. Delicious.
The Atlas Cabernet Sauvignon takes its name from the Titan god, Atlas, who bears the weight of the world and heavens on his shoulders. This remarkably powerful and nuanced Cabernet gets its character from a combination of soils and exposures from three vineyards. One sight is an exceptional southwest facing hillside-vineyard in Calistoga. Its soil is made up of fractured volcanic alluvials that are rocky and well drained. The Mt. Veeder site is fractured marine based shale. Oakville is the iron rich, red volcanic soils common in Oakville’s eastern hillsides.
