Grilled herbs showing complex thyme, sage and mint as well as dark berry aromas. This is wonderfully broad, mouth filling and powerful with a dense core of plum, black currant, cassis, mineral and herb notes. Long and enthralling on the palate - most impressive for the core of fine grained and sophisticated tannin that carries the intricate flavors to a long complex finish.
The Atlas Cabernet Sauvignon takes its name from the Titan god, Atlas, who bears the weight of the world and heavens on his shoulders. This remarkably powerful and nuanced Cabernet gets its character from a combination of soils and exposures from two vineyards. One sight is an exceptional southwest facing hillside-vineyard lies at 900 feet of elevation above Calistoga. Its soil is made up of fractured volcanic material that is extremely rocky and well drained and forces the vines to develop deep root systems. The other site, on the valley floor of Oakville, has classic, deep alluvial soils which provide the broad textural richness and dark fruits of this wine.
